When can I renew my driver's license?

The DGT( Motor Vehicle Department ) permits your license renewal 3 months before the expiration date . If your license is renewed within the 3 month period previous to the date of expiration your previous validity date will not be altered for your next drivers license.

The Motor Vehicle Department (DGT) will keep intact the same expiration date for your next license renewal, changing only the year of expiration.Therefore, renewing your license within these 3 last months,means you will not lose validity of the old license or shorten the validity of the new license.Therefore , it is always preferable to renew in advance of the last day of the expiration date.

Discounts for over 70 year olds

You save on Fees!

All license renewals for anyone 70 years of age or older are exempt of the official fees of the DGT( Motor Vehicle Department). Therefore, the cost of a driver’s license renewal for the over 70 will be less since they will only have to pay for the Doctor’s Certificate being that the traffic (DGT) fees are free.

When will I receive my original driver's license?

From the Medical Clinic Marbella your new driver’s license will be processed telematically. Therefore your newly renewed license will be updated and issued instantly.

Once your new license has been processed and renewed, the DGT( Motor Vehicle Department) will instantly issue you an official temporary license. This authorized license is exactly the same as an original renewed driver’s license. With this official temporary license you will be fully authorized to drive as usual. You will receive by ordinary post from the DGT within a maximum of 90 days your physical newly renewed driver’s license.Furthermore,in the electronic base of the DGT,the moment that you renew your drivers license you will be able to verify your renewed License.
